About Stratavera

We didn’t start the Stratavera Group because we wanted to consult. We started it because we have lived the challenges our clients face, and we believe the organizations doing the most vital work in our communities deserve more than generic advice.

We approach every engagement as a partnership. We embed ourselves in your organization’s reality — your data, your people, your constraints — and we build solutions from the ground up, not from a template.

We diagnose at the root.

We don’t start with assumptions. We start with what’s actually happening, and we tell you the truth about what we find.

We stay in the fight.

Scope evolves. Crises emerge. We don’t disappear when things get complicated, and we don’t treat every question as a change order. We’re partners, not vendors, and we never want you to hesitate to reach out.

We design for your reality.

Every recommendation accounts for your capacity, your culture, and your constraints.

We deliver outcomes you can measure.

Return on investment isn’t an afterthought. It’s embedded in how we approach every engagement. We define success in terms you can quantify, and we hold ourselves accountable to those numbers.

Leadership

Robert Edstrom

Founder & Principal

Robert Edstrom is a seasoned nonprofit executive whose career spans more than a decade of leadership across behavioral health, integrated healthcare, and community-based service delivery. He has held senior financial and operational leadership roles in some of Illinois’s most complex nonprofit organizations, including serving as Chief Financial Officer of the state’s largest inpatient behavioral health provider, where he engineered record operating surpluses, launched multiple new service lines, and led the organization through a period of transformative growth.

His experience encompasses the full scope of nonprofit financial and operational leadership, from revenue cycle optimization and Medicaid sustainability modeling to regulatory compliance, operational redesign, and large-scale strategic planning. He has directly secured more than $50 million in grant funding and has led financial strategies across Medicaid and diversified revenue streams representing hundreds of millions of dollars in organizational revenue.

Robert is a recognized statewide voice on behavioral health finance and Medicaid policy. He has testified before the Illinois House and Senate, briefed legislators on healthcare funding and policy, and served by gubernatorial appointment on the Illinois Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Data Workgroup. He is a regular speaker at conferences on topics including financial sustainability, integrated care models, and the structural challenges facing the behavioral health sector.

He founded the Stratavera Group to bring this depth of experience directly to the organizations that need it most, mission-driven nonprofits working at the intersection of limited resources and unlimited demand.
